John McEnroe has sparked controversy on social media after making a comment about Iga Swiatek not wearing makeup.
Speaking after her dominant victory over Jasmine Paolini in the women’s singles final, the American said: „Do you think for the right price we could get Iga in some makeup?“
The comment drew a furious response from some fans, with @Masha4Lyfe saying on X: „Be so f*****g serious. Every time he opens his mouth it’s an example of why he shouldn’t have a job.“
Others argued that McEnroe was discussing endorsement deals and suggested that his comment was taken out of context.
@friesk00 wrote: „You missed his point. He was talking about all the endorsement deals Iga has and one she doesn’t have is with a major cosmetics company.
„Maybe she could throw on some makeup for an endorsement deal was all he said so she could get an endorsement deal.“
