The 65p cleaning hack which will instantly remove stubborn mattress stains

Stains on a mattress can be difficult to tackle, as you either have to spot treat or fork out money to get it professionally cleaned.

While spot cleaning might not seem as thorough as putting something through the wash, there is one common ingredient you can use to make sure you’re tackling stains at its core.

Bicarbonate of soda, often hailed for its versatile cleaning properties, is a staple in cleaning expert Mrs. Hinch’s toolkit.

This household staple is not only great for baking and deodorising but also for tackling stubborn stains on mattresses.

She recommends this simple yet effective method to tackle mattress stains, ensuring your sleeping area remains fresh and hygienic.

To remove stains from your mattress, the cleaning guru recommends following these steps.

Generously sprinkle bicarbonate of soda over the stain.

Work In:

Gently work the powder into the fabric using a brush or your fingers.

Let It Sit:

Allow the bicarbonate of soda to sit on the stain for about an hour. This gives it time to absorb moisture and odours.

Vacuum the area thoroughly to remove the bicarbonate of soda, leaving your mattress clean and fresh.

For optimal results, Mrs. Hinch suggests performing this routine every six months to keep your mattress in top condition.

Bicarbonate soda is renowned for its cleaning properties.

It’s mildly abrasive, which helps in scrubbing away stains without damaging the fabric.

This method not only removes stains but also eliminates lingering odours, leaving your mattress smelling fresh.
