Princess Anne has a pretty ecelectic fashion sense – she’s been lauded for her Adidas glasses, bucket hats, and penchant for showing off her legs.
But her hair and makeup often looks the same, as the Princess Royal often opts for a classic updo that she has sported for decades.
There was a time, however, that the hardworking royal let her hair down, literally. As a youthful 21-year-old Princess Anne was spotted with a bouncy blowdry perfect for the bouffant styles of the 70s.
The royal was photographed all-smiles as she attended a traditional Persian Dinner hosted by the Shah of Iran and Empress Farah at Persepolis during the lavish celebrations of the 2500th Anniversary of the Persian Empire in 1971.
It was a rare insight into the Princess having a bit of a fun in her 20s, but Anne has since stayed loyal to her chignon updo.
The working princess, who attends more events than any other royal, had 212 engagements in 2023 alone, sporting her signature look each time.
The no-fuss look has become her go-to style and as she does it for every public appearance, the look takes Anne only about ten minutes to create.
But even the experts struggle to recreate the style. Anne revealed that she was suprised to learn it takes an hour to mimic the hairstyle on Netflix TV show The Crown.
Speaking in an ITV documentary, talking about Erin Doherty who played the young Princess Anne in the third and fourth seasons of the Netflix drama, Anne said she doesn’t watch The Crown.
„I read an article the other day about the, I don’t watch Netflix and The Crown, but the actress was talking about how long it took them to do their hair like I did.“
„And I’m thinking, ‚How could you possibly take that long?‘ I mean, it takes me 10 or 15 minutes.“
