Corrie’s Vicky Entwistle shares heartbreak over star’s missing relative | UK | News

Former Coronation Street actress Vicky Entwistle has taken to social media in a desperate plea to help find missing teenager Jay Slater, who disappeared while on holiday in Tenerife. The star, best known for her role as Janice Battersby, is closely connected to the family and is using her platform to spread awareness of Jay’s disappearance in hopes of aiding his safe return.

Posting a missing person poster on her social media, Vicky penned: „My God Mother’s Grandson has gone missing. His Mother has flown out 7pm. To join the police search. Hope to God they find him. Please pray for him.“

The 19 year old lad from Lancashire went missing on Monday after travelling to the Spanish island for a music festival. Prior to his disappearance, Jay had been partying at a rave on Sunday night before joining two newly met acquaintances for drinks at their flat located in a remote area.

Jay was last heard from on Monday morning when he called a friend at 8am, stating that he was lost, thirsty, and his phone battery was down to 1 per cent.

Vicky’s heartfelt plea for her missing son Jay quickly went viral, with a flood of support pouring in from the online community. One concerned supporter commented: „Saw this on Facebook Vicky, it seems to be getting shared far and wide, hopefully there will be some good news imminently with all the love and support out there, just makes it so much harder when abroad! Love and prayers for you all.“

Another offered assistance, saying: „We are in Tenerife if we can help in any way let us know.“

Since that call, Jay’s phone has run out of power. His last known location was traced to Teno Rural Park in the north-west of Tenerife, close to a popular hiking trail, reports the Manchester Evening News.

The search for Jay has seen an incredible response, with nearly 100,000 people joining a Facebook group dedicated to sharing updates and coordinating efforts. Volunteers are gearing up to continue the search on Wednesday morning.

Earlier efforts by local authorities have included expert mountain search teams, drone surveillance, and helicopter searches, all aimed at locating the teenager.

A Civil Guard spokeswoman in Tenerife expressed the urgency of the situation, stating that every available resource, including mountain rescue teams and police helicopters, is being utilised in the search around Masca village. She confirmed: „A specialist Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group called the Greim have been mobilised. A police helicopter is also out and focusing on the area around the village of Masca.“

„Other emergency services including firefighters have also been mobilised. Everything possible is being done to try to find the missing man.“
