Billy Joel leaves fans in disbelief with Grammys performance of first new song in 30 years | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Billy Joel lifted the roof of the house at tonight’s by performing his first new single in 30 years.

The 74-year-old was joined by wife Alexis, 41, and their daughters on the red carpet at the Arena in Los Angeles.

Joel, who has sold out Madison Sqaure Garden over 150 times, had not sung solo at the Grammys since 1994 where he performed The River Of Dreams.

Wearing some tinted glasses and a black leather jacket, Joel sang new song ‘Turn the Lights Back On’.

The audience got to their feet to applaud the legendary singer, who then came back after Taylor Swift’s best album win to close out the show.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: “Couldn’t be happier that Billy Joel decided to “turn the lights back on” after a 30yr break from songwriting. Whatta gorgeous tune!”

“Man, Billy Joel still got it,” wrote another in agreement.

A third added: “Billy Joel is the goat. Still absolutely crushing it at 74.”

Joel looks set to headline Glastonbury Pyramid Stage with his young daughters.

Coral Bookmakers told Express Online; “The biggest mover over the last few days is Billy Joel. The New York star has just released some new music and many punters believe he will on the Pyramid Stage this summer.

“We think Coldplay and Dua Lipa are the most likely to be confirmed as headline acts for Glastonbury this year. They are both long odds-on in our betting.

“Madonna’s odds continue to drift out. She still looks to be in the mix, but it would be no surprise if details were still being ironed out with the Queen of Pop.”
